Were two invitation from mutual friends at work today. Hehehe..

"Ohhhh, [with oh my god expression!] Im so sorry, terlupaaaaa!" Sabrina's eyes membesar apologizing!

Yea, i get that all the time. As the matter of fact, i know most of yous get that all the time too. Especially during this early first week of fasting.

But that isnt my problem here. Then what is? My name. Yea, my name. It contributed a lot of confusions to many and sometimes led to frustration.

Felicia Farida. A name chosen by dad and mum. Dad's an Iban with a bit of chinese here and there. Mum's a melanau. Dad converted to Islam, married mum and the rest is history. 3 siblings were born. I was born last with two gigantic brothers above. They have their own macho names but all related to muslim names, where as mine..

"Mum, who named me? People get confused all the time with my name. They cant make out whether i'm a muslim or non-muslim."

"It's your dad who gave you that name, sweet. Farida was given by me, so combined both you get Felicia Farida."

"Aha..considering the attention, i guess it's okay.."

I'm not saying i dont like my name, i do.. a lot. I can guarantee i'm the only person on earth with that kind of name. I mean, yea you can get Felicia or Farida separately but none with Felicia Farida. Like it or not, you'd have to agree with me.

It's the perception that needs to be changed. Nowadays new born babies get a whole lot of tongue twisted names you cant even spell. Even the malays are giving their babies names like Alexander, Tony and what else, u name it.. I know it's important for certain parents to give names with meaning. Well i have mine, not excluded. According to a friend [a non muslim fren] said Felicia means Happiness.. and for Farida, it means The Only One.. So you get..Happiness in/of The Only One.Tell me if that is not sweet?
